The
chapel, also called The Chapel of Sailors, was built, in honour of
Saint Antonio from Padova, protector of Anacapri, in
the central part of Scala Fenicia, exactly in the period in
which the Scala Fenicia was the only connection between the two
municipalities of the Island. The first establishment of the chapel
dates back to the middle of 17th century, but an
epigraph on the front of the church recalls its restauration and
its enlargement in 1899. The exterior is characterized by a small,
semicircular terrace, delimited by low parapets, upon which was
laid a seat. The interior consists of an atrium, surmounted by a
barrel vault and a small squared area for sacred rites, covered
with a ribbed vault and surrounded by a small apse.
